What is a Sandwich?

A sandwich is meat and/or vegetables and/or cheese, with optional condiments, between two slices of bread or two halves of a split roll.  Right?

Which is my attempt at composing a rule that means, hot dogs are sandwiches but that ice cream thing to the right is clearly a cannoli, burritos are just burritos and are we seriously talking about Pop-Tarts in a sandwich conversation???
