I Know Where John Oliver Gets It -- UPDATED

When John Oliver gets rolling on one of his rants, it's like he's tapped into a Keystone XL Pipeline of snark and rage at the sheer stupidity (or worse) of his target.  I see where that comes from.  I have felt it now, after reading this article on today's RollingStone.com.

I hope, in this distressing case, that it's just plain hopeless stupidity.  Because if this asshole's statement is based on a rational calculation that it will accrue net political benefit, then the polity is broken beyond repair and it really is time to move to Sweden.

"I'm reminded that President Franklin D. Roosevelt felt compelled to sequester Japanese foreign nationals after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and it appears that the threat of harm to America from ISIS now is just as real and serious as that from our enemies then."

The Japanese-American internment was likely one of the top 10 worst actions by an American administration in the past 100 years.  And there's a lot of very capable competition for a spot in that team picture!  Remember that the only reason FDR gets away with it in history, is that this other guy named Adolf managed to overshadow it with his own "refugee-resettlement" final solution.
