Happy 5th Birthday, Google+

This was me, five years ago

But I'm still here five years on, so it's more than "Not Facebook!"  Although, the Not Facebook! aspect is pretty strong. If small minds discuss people, average minds discuss events, and great minds discuss ideas, then that corresponds fairly neatly in my view to Facebook, Twitter and Google+.  What I like about Google+ is that it's organized around interests and topics, then you find people who share them.  Which beats the heck out of trying to figure out what you still have in common with your high-school friends from the mid 1970's and finding out that the answer is, not much.

Rumors of the imminent demise of G+, by the way, have been around for roughly four and a half of these five years.  So I am not worried about it just yet.  I think GMail was in "beta" for nine years or so before they made it official.
