To the Fainting Couch!

What to do, what to do.  Our ever-so-genteel political culture simply doesn't know what to do with Donald Trump's explicit bigotry.  The delicate sensibilities are being bruised!  Oh, no, an attack of the vapors!

What a crock!  Go look in the mirror.  In their history both major parties have participated in the all-around festival of racial hatred, religious bigotry, homophobia and misogyny that has composed the lion's share of our history.

In the mid-60's the Democrats made a strategic decision to offload a lot of that work to the GOP, who took it up happily.  LBJ figured, the Blue Team would sooner or later find itself on the right side of history.

I still think he was correct but it's taken much longer than he probably thought it would, and the wear and tear is such that the grinding gears of the inner machine are exposed now.  The machine that makes sure that if old white nominally Christian straight men from Western European families can't have it all, nobody is getting anything.

With its gears exposed, it might finally rust away.  Or... blow up and kill us all.  Either way: interesting times ahead.
