The problem is, that stupid people bellow.  Then, it's hard to hear the measured voice of reason over the bellowing.  Reason could bellow too, but since the actual lexical content of bellowing is unimportant, the reasonable content will be disregarded.

Side note.  Something I have learned in my professional life, over the past year or so: People who have been lied to enough start liking it.
