Identity Dog Whistles

Dog whistles indeed.

Click through and gather some good advice about how to recognize and avoid the rhetorical traps laid by these smarmy phrases.  "Identity politics",  "liberal elites",   and an enduring fave, "politically correct."  The last one is generally deployed as air-cover for straight-up racism.

The rhetoric illustrated in the cartoon, of course, only applies unless your identity is white, cis-male, heterosexual, and Christian.  For that identity, anything goes!
