The Business Model of NSA Apologists

Mark Felt, in his Deep Throat incarnation, told Woodward, “follow the money.”  Woodward paid attention to this should-be-obvious advice and the Nixon presidency was cooked.

Today, the biggest inside-out rot comes from the NSA, the CIA, and their unlimited surveillance feeding codependency with paranoia about “terrorism“.

CNN and other stenography pools journalism organizations put one talking head after another on TV to shriek about how brown people gonna kill us all unless we flay Ed Snowden alive and turn over all our browsing and cell phone data to Big Brother.

Lee Fang from The Intercept actually followed the money, and oh, guess what.  Turns out these talking heads are all making major bank from contractors providing surveillance tech to the NSA and its ilk.

It’s enough to make a person cynical, I tell you.

In it for the Money

As I wrote earlier, the typical Republican presidential candidate has no real hope of getting the nomination, let alone the Presidency.

But this article from the Wall Street Journal makes it plain that they are still quite rational to pretend.

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson and his wife, Candy, earned between $8.9 million and $27 million in a recent 16-month period, largely fueled by book royalties, speaking engagements and Mr. Carson’s service on the board of directors for two big companies.

When it’s worth this kind of money just to be this TEA party kind of famous, you’d be kind of crazy not to.
Not that Carson isn’t a few other kinds of crazy.

Ann Coulter – Prankster

There’s simply no way Ann Coulter truly, sincerely believes all the insane garbage she spews.  It has to be some kind of massive prank, or a bet, or a bizarre tontine of… ludicrous hateful statements, maybe?

Anyway the latest flood of her verbal sewage suggests that the “problem with this country” is immigrants.  Not “illegal immigrants,” mind you.  Immigrants.  Now, by “immigrants” she means those who immigrated after her ancestors had.  So that would be the Irish and the Chinese and the Italians and the Jews and the Mexicans and the Vietnamese.  Among others.

But I think if we really wanted to solve the “immigrant” problem comprehensively we should take it up to the real authorities on watching what happens to this country as immigrants arrive.  The Iroquois, the Powhatan, the Seminole, the Cherokee and the Sioux.  Among others.

So I’m guessing that is not what Coulter meant.  It’s hard to know what she really meant, though.  I think it might be a tontine.  Maybe we’ll find out when she dies.

I can’t wait!

(To find out what she meant!  What did you think I was saying?)

Wear Orange!

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.  I am wearing orange to mark it.

The NRA promotes gun ownership and “open carry” idiocy as a response to what it calls “culture war.”  Make no mistake, what it means by “culture war” is: non-whites.

Watch this video if you doubt that Open Carry is for whites only.

There is much to question about this methodology but the outcome is unsurprising.

Guns in the hands of ordinary citizens do not solve any problem we have.  They are much more likely to be used for suicide, murder of a family member, friend, or acquaintance, or to play the pivotal role in fatal accident than they are to repel a legitimate intruder.

Americans have taken the Westerns of the 20th century far too seriously.  They are bigger fantasies than Star Wars.  The situations that existed in those movies only ever existed in a movie.

It’s time to come back to reality.
