Cyberwar

I’m really enjoying Cyberwar on the Viceland network.  It’s rare to see this level of reporting on information security issues.  Usually, in media, it’s “HACKERS! BAAAD!  BE AFRAID!  BUY WINDOZE!”

But this is being done by a crew who recognize that there’s more to it than that.

  1. Thanks for the heads-up David. Like you, I’m naturally cynical about the media take on this but I’m willing to give it a go, when it eventually percolates to the Far Side down here in NZ.

Looking at the episode title, it seems to conflate the general everyday ‘cyber’ stuff with all-out cyberwar which, to me, is a different ball-game entirely. But maybe I’m wrong and maybe it does make the distinction.

PS Your comment form is broken on Chrome: the “Website” box label is squished between the Name and Email boxes. Perhaps it was a Freudian slip when I just typed “broken on Chrime:” 🙂

I’m catching up but so far, each episode seems to be fairly well-balanced and not out into alarmist territory. Also, the series title definitely belies the more even-handed treatment of the topics.

And… thanks for the note about the comment form, I will see what flexibility I have to fix that without h0rking the theme too badly.
